Step in September with Positive Vibes
None of us thought that 2020 is going to be like this… and eventually, we have made through most of the year! 2020 had it all… coronavirus pandemic, fires, locust attack, Beirut explosion, and whatnot. To date, it is so much for our mental health. There is still stress, anxiety, confusion, and depression regarding whatever is happening in the world. Since it is too much to handle, I thought let’s encourage ourselves to move into September with positive vibes.
I read it somewhere that positivity can really turn a negative situation into a positive one. So, let’s dedicate September for more improvement towards the mental health of us and our loved ones. September is to relax, slow down, enjoy, self-care, and whatever it takes to keep up with mental health. In this blog, I have covered how we can make most of September with positivity. So, let’s get started.
Convert Stresstember to Positive September:
I completely understand the feeling of mental, physical, and emotional stress. It feels pressured to be at this point. Learning how to cope with stress and how to shape a response will take care of our mental health.
The only thing that affects our body, thought, behavior and a feeling is stress. Stress can contribute to major health problems like depression, diabetes, and whatnot.
Stress comes in the form of:
Physical Symptoms
- Chest pain
- Sleep problems
- Headaches
- Fatigues
- Muscle tension
Mental Symptoms
- Restlessness
- Overwhelm
- Anger
- Irritation
- Lack of motivation
- Anxiety
- Sadness
Behavioral Symptoms
- Anger outburst
- Changes in appetite
- Low sex drive
- Loss of interest
- Less social interactions
- Alcohol and drug use
Such stress can really impact our daily life. If stress is not treated or cured properly, it can lead to suicidal thoughts (talking about the worst case). Additionally, September is known to National Recovery Month and National Suicide Prevention Month.
Therefore, before the normal stress converts into a chronic one, let’s put efforts together to achieve mental wellness.
The reason behind suicidal thoughts awareness is that September was recognized as the most “ANXIETY-INDUCING” month of the year. From the last few years, #Stressstember is trending on social media. The goal is to convert the hashtag into a positive one.
Coping Strategies to have a Positive September
There are always a lot of things which can help to convert Stresstember to a positive September. Meanwhile, awareness and inner belief can de-stress our body, mind, and soul. The creation of small goals will make your September happy.
Awareness comes from the recognition of your flexible needs and life. More flexibility towards life can result in more satisfaction and less anxiety. This may sound cliché but getting enough sleep and rest is the only potential thing to start with. Because enough sleep brings out the attention and confidence which helps in more creative thinking and better stimulation towards everyday chores.
Furthermore, more organized schedules and prioritizing your needs will help you to make most of your September. Learn to say no, whenever you feel like saying “no”… say “yes” to your priorities and needs. Take time for yourself and practice mindfulness. Eat well, take proper nutrition, and practice self-care. Prepare yourself for situations, build resilience and patience.
Other Considerations towards Improvement
It is really essential to acknowledge how we feel, what went wrong, and how we can overcome such instances. If you are not able to handle or overcome such situations, Calm Sage strongly recommends booking an appointment with a mental health provider. Remember, asking for help is a sign of strength. Therefore, to feel better, supported and relaxed, visit your mental health provider or you can also opt for online therapy.
