We often talk about the role caregivers play in the lives of people with mental, emotional, and physical challenges.  We forget that caregivers are doing a selfless job and that they need care too. Resilient care partnering is one-way caregivers can protect themselves.

Since taking care of a patient is challenging for the caregiver and the health care system, resilient care partnering is one way everyone can benefit from— the patient, caregiver, and the health care provider.

Want to know more about resilient care partnering?

Here you go…

What Is Resilient Care Partnering?

Resilient care partnering is a mindful collaboration between the primary caregiver and healthcare provider. It is their unison that makes it easier for the caregiver to make better decisions and help the care receiver to help themselves in order to make the treatment work.

Caregivers are not medical practitioners therefore, it is not possible for them to exactly know how they can help in improving their mental, emotional, or physical health condition. Now, they can provide them with emotional support but there is a lot riding on the efforts of a caregiver, therefore, collaboration with healthcare providers only makes things better.

When caregivers and healthcare providers work together, there is a better understanding of the patient’s condition, theoretically (medically) and emotionally. Therefore, this union makes the patient and we as the caregivers more resilient. Hence, resilient care partnering!

Resilient care partnering aims at fostering effective communication, shared decision-making, and mutual support. Resilient care partnering aims to optimize patient outcomes and enhance the overall healthcare experience.

Importance Of Resilient Care Partnering

Resilient care partnering is a very clever strategy that improves the overall well-being of the patient and the caregiver. Mental health conditions like depression, Alzheimer’s, bipolar disorder, etc. heal faster when a skilled caregiver accompanied by a professional mental health treatment

Resilient care partnering has a lot of importance, especially in our healthcare system. However, let’s look at two main important roles resilient care partnering plays;

  • Acknowledges the importance of caregivers and their expertise: we often forget how important is the role of caregivers in our journey to recovery. Resilient care partnering acknowledges the knowledge caregivers have about the patient and the effort they put in to help the patient cope with their daily challenges.
  • Promotes patient-centered care: when both caregivers and health care providers work together, it is easier to plan according to the patient’s goals, values, and preferences. This kind of collaboration helps patients get a sense of autonomy and freedom which is great for a speedy recovery.

Benefits of Resilient Care Partnering

Resilient care partnering is a partnership between the caregiver and the health care provider but in a true sense, it is a collaboration of all three parties involved. The patient needs to believe in their treatment plan only then can they heal quickly.

Who brings that belief? The caregiver! You become a caregiver when the patient trusts you. A caregiver can be anyone, a family member, friend, professional nurse, etc. When these caregivers become a representative of the patient’s needs and desires, they help them align with the treatment offered by the healthcare provider.

Want to know how this collaboration can benefit everyone? Here you go;

  • Increases patient satisfaction
  • Helps the patients feel heard and supported

  • Encourage the patient to engage in their own treatment
  • Holds the potential to increase positive health outcomes
