Medito For Mindfulness, Meditation, And Sleep | Medito App Review
Meditation is slowly but surely becoming a part of our lives. We’re constantly looking for that source of relaxation that we’re sorely lacking in our waking lives. When nothing seems to help, we turn to depend on certain applications and guides to help us embrace mindfulness in our stressful lives. One such app is Medito: Meditation And Wellness.
Not many apps offer courses, daily meditations, sleep stories, and other meditation sessions for free. Fortunately, Medito does. Medito is a 100% free meditation app that will help you forget your worries, relax before bed, and wake up feeling refreshed with its simple (yet effective) meditation sessions.
I used this app (and will continue to do so) and below I’ve described my experience with the app, Medito app features you can’t miss, and how to get started with Medito. Without further ado, let’s take a look at the Medito App review!
Overview Of Medito Meditation App
- Available On: iOS & Android
- Price: Complete Free
- Specialty: Meditation, Mindfulness, and Sleep
Some apps might seem cool but then disappoint you the moment you download them, and then some apps hold your attention the moment you download them and don’t let it go. Medito is the latter kind. There are no hidden subscriptions or in-app purchases that will hold you back from enjoying the app to the fullest.
Medito Foundation, the developer, is a non-profit organization that believes that meditation can transform lives and no one should have to pay for its access. The Foundation is dedicated to helping people cope with depression, stress, anxiety, and any other distressing conditions that plague the human mind almost daily.
Practicing meditation and mindfulness can help you reduce stress and anxiety, improve cognitive skills, improve sleep, and boost your overall well-being. Medito focuses solely on that. Instead of holding you back from accessing meditation courses and sessions behind subscriptions, they ask you to donate (optional) as thanks.
And let me be honest. I’ve tried many free meditation apps, but I’ve always felt disappointed because while they were free, the meditation was almost always interrupted with ads and the quality of the meditation sessions was also poor. However, Medito proved me wrong.
Even with its simple design and easy-to-navigate interface, the quality of meditation was on par with other subscription-based apps, and I’ve yet to encounter ads during my meditation. Medito app is amazing for beginners because you don’t have to spend a lot of time procrastinating about meditation as the navigation is pretty neat and simple.
Furthermore, there are Meditation Packs that you can find on the homepage and once you click on them, you’ll find meditation and relaxation exercises such as body scans, breathing exercises, guided meditations, meditative affirmations, pain management, sleep meditation, and much more.
If you’re scared of ads interrupting your meditation, then you can even download your favorite meditations and listen to them offline or on the go. Let’s learn more about the Medito App below.
If you’d like to try Medito, click on the links below to go to the Google Play Store and Apple App Store to download the app for free.
How To Get Started With Medito?
After you download the app and click it to open, it will open to the default homepage that will look something like this;
There’s no need to sign up or register. Once you’re there, you can find the course on “Getting Started”. This is a small intro about Medito, mindfulness, and meditation. The whole section is about 11-12 minutes long. Then, if you need to learn more, you can click on the next course, “Learning To Sit”. That’s labeled as Step 1, and you can learn all about becoming comfortable sitting for meditation sessions.
The next course on “Mindfulness” is Step 2 (around 10-minutes long) and there you can learn how to develop the habit of regular meditation, starting with a bit of history, concepts, and benefits of mindfulness.
Coming next is Step 3; the course is labeled as, “Deepen Your Practice”. Here, you’ll find more philosophical concepts that can help you deepen your meditation practice. The next course, “Open Awareness” is Step 4 which is a series of meditations based on the open awareness technique and will help you learn how to bring mindfulness into your daily practice.
Step 5 and Step 6 are “Gratitude” and “Compassion”, respectively. Each of these courses will help you learn how to express gratitude and be compassionate in your day-to-day lives.
Step 7 holds my interest so far and is labeled, “30-Day Challenge”. This course is designed to help you form a meditation habit over 30 days. There’s a meditation for each day with different meditation techniques and methods. Interesting, right?
Now, the last two courses you’ll find on the homepage of the Medito app are labeled, “Great Thinkers” and “Meditative Insights”. On steps 8 and 9, you’ll explore more philosophical concepts from great thinkers of all time such as Mary Angelou, Simone Well, William Shakespeare, Nelson Man
The app also has a tracker to help you keep track. It will tell you your current streak, how many minutes you’ve listened so far, what your longest streak is, and how many sessions you’ve listened to yet.
What captures my attention on the homepage is the section at the end of the page labeled, “Today’s Quote”. There will be a new quote featured every day to motivate you on your journey.
Medito App Features
Medito App features include;
- Daily meditation
- Timer
- Sleep, and
- Downloads
All of these 4 you’ll find on the top of the homepage.
Daily meditation will feature a new meditation every day to help you develop awareness and mindfulness. Here you can pick a narrator (out of 2) and the duration of the meditation (3-20 minutes).
The Timer, on the other hand, is a simple timer with a bell at the start and the end of the session. If you’re an intermediate practitioner, then this feature will be good for you but if you’re a beginner, it’s recommended that you start with the courses first.
When you click on the Sleep feature, you’ll get a list of four choices;
- Meditation For Sleep
- Sleep Stories
- Nature Sounds
- Meditative Music
In each of these features, you’ll find meditations, music, and relaxing sounds to help lull you to sleep.
If you’ve downloaded any meditation course or pack yet, then you can find those in the Downloads feature.
Now when you click on the Packs section that is right next to the Home button, you’ll see a list of meditation sessions and courses.
These are good for beginners and intermediates to meditations and some of the packs included are;
- Breathing Exercises
- SOS Sessions
- Self-Care and Anti-Racism
- Guided Meditations by experts
- Sleep Meditations
- Meditative Music
- Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction
- Coping With Pandemic
- Coping With Societal Crisis
- Work Life Pack
- Mindfulness For Teachers
- Mindfulness For Students, and more!
The best part that I find in all these meditations is that you can pick your choice of narrator and sounds in the meditation session. These background sounds can range from no sound to spring fields and from river sounds to rain sounds.
Is The Medito App Free?
Yes, the Medito App is free and there are no hidden charges, in-app purchases, or anything of the sort. You don’t need a subscription or need to pay anything to access all the courses and packs in the Medito app.
Why Medito Is Better Than Other Apps?
In today’s world, we’re constantly looking for applications that don’t ask for more subscriptions than we already have and while the premium subscriptions on many apps can give us some amazing benefits, they can ultimately make us feel more financially stressed than before. Medito is a 100% free meditation and mindfulness app that will not ask you for more than thanks in donation (and that too; optional).
Regardless of the cost, we need meditation to help us deal with the day-to-day stress we normally face. Medito is an app that believes everyone, regardless of age, race, and level, deserves meditation to help cope with their negative feelings.
What Medito claims, Medito delivers. I believe it is one of the kinds of apps that I would not hesitate to use every day if it helps me ultimately improve my overall wellness by reducing my stress, one meditation at a time.
Writer’s Thoughts…
We are all accepting the benefits of meditation and mindfulness in our lives and after looking through and trying many different meditation techniques and apps, I can finally say that I’ve found one meditation app that not only has a wide range of courses and meditation packs but is also 100% free!
Easy to navigate with no hidden subscription, membership, or hassle of registration, Medito: Meditation And Wellness is an app that you need to have on your phone if meditation is something you’ve been thinking about giving a try or even if you’re a meditation pro.
I hope this Medito App Review will guide you through the app and its many amazing features and benefits. Please note that this app is based on the author’s experience and research and is not meant to disrespect any party(s).
