How to Deal With Negative Comments Mindfully
We all know the concept of self-acceptance. But when it comes to public negative comments, we isolate ourselves so much that we tend to forget how to deal with negative comments with mindfulness. Negative comments come with so much stress and anxiety that it becomes hard to deal with negative comments. We over-criticize ourselves so much that we also become part of negativity.
Putting ourselves in such negativity is not good for our mental and physical health. And the fact with negative comments is that “ignoring” never works. No matter how hard we try to ignore, we somehow end up thinking about the negative comment only. The good news is that after self-acceptance, we can also overcome negativity, stress, and, anxiety caused due to negative comments easily with the concept of mindfulness. In this blog, I have enlisted the best ways to deal with negative comes mindfully. So, let’s get started.
Best Ways to Deal With Negative Comments Mindfully
1.Bring out the list of positive comments
The best way to overcome negativity is to throw out the positivity as much as you can. Similarly, when someone makes a negative comment on you publically or personally, bring out the list of positive comments and answer him\her with politeness. Politeness and calmness make the other person feel about their deed. Do not show them any hate or anger, just stay calm, and make positive comments with a smile. This act is definitely going to provide inner peace to you.
2.Do not misinterpret
Sometimes, it happens that we misinterpret a normal comment with a negative one… therefore, keep your instincts on and before judging the other person for the negative comment, ask yourself if it is appropriate to declare the comment as a negative comment. Listen to your inner instinct and critic and make a positive judgment out of it. Do not misinterpret things and hurt your sentiments.
3.Practice Detachment
Sometimes, not replying to negativity is the best thing we can do. Since you have concluded that the comment is really negative; you can follow the process of detachment. Conclude, if the person belongs to the negative trait or not. If the other person is making such comments regularly, then I think it is better to maintain distance from the person.
If he\she is making such comments regularly on social media platforms, the best things to do are to unfriend or unfollow them. So that they can self-realize regarding the toxic behavior they carry publically. Detachment is one of the best things to deal with negative comments specifically on social media platforms.
4.Polish your inner critic
Identify the toxic trait of the person and polish your inner critic with them. I know this may sound weird right now. But, let the person know about your potential so that he\she can back off from the negativity. Maybe you don’t want to keep in contact with the person who passes negative comments on everyone. But, if you really want to help out the person from the negativity, make use of your genuine helping thoughts which can take control of the negativity. Instead of doing all this publicly, message them personally and make them understand with the help of positive and helpful thoughts.
5.Bounce back stronger
After taking every possible positive step to stop the person from making negative comments, if the person still does not listen to you… it is high time to bounce back stronger. Every time someone passes a negative comment on you on a social media platform, hit them back with more positive and smile. Let the people know that you are accepting any kind of negativity. In this way, you can also improve your self-esteem.
