7 Ways On How To Be Grateful In Life (And Be Happy)
We all carry a common tendency of looking at things that we do not possess. It could be money, a desirable partner, or a lavish lifestyle. Little do we remember what we already have in front of us and who is beside us!
We tend to forget to feel grateful for what we have and focus more on what others have and we don’t. If you agree with me, then PAUSE and say “Thank You!” in your heart.
“When we focus on our gratitude, the tide of disappointment goes out and the tide of love rushes in.”
Today, we’re doing our little part in being grateful for what we have and to help, I have some great ways for how you can be more grateful with each passing day. So, keep an eye out for the way that resonates with you and what you can easily add to your daily routine to practice gratitude.
How Gratitude And Happiness Are Connected?
It is scientifically proven that positive emotions are more prominent in people who appreciate what is present in their lives and appreciate being thankful for it. Their mind is usually satisfied with what is already present. And when they aim to achieve new highs in life, they do not forget to thank what is present and even thankful for what is achieved.
As you force yourself to think of happy moments and positive aspects of life, you will notice that happiness generates within.
When two different groups were researched; where one is telling themselves ‘Thank you for everything’ and the other is having a routine life; the former was found to be happy.
So, I guess it means that even science agrees on being thankful! Let’s take a look at the 7 ways you can be grateful every day;
1. Give Yourself Time EVERY Night For 10 Minutes
Make it a ritual to express your thanks if you are looking for ways how to be grateful for life. While you lie down on the bed, breathe deep and join your hands. Now tell yourself all the good things that happened today and smile on your own.
If you are starting it now, you can think of the things you have today like home, parents, pet, food, money, eyes, arms, ears, music, and every single thing you can think of. And in a day or two, make it a habit every day!

2. Start Saying “Thank You” To Others
Yes, your happiness begins when you share it with others! Once you tell people you love all about why you love them and that you are thankful that they are in your life, there will be an immense amount of satisfaction within. Imagine leaving a “thank you” note at your friend’s desk for being there and sharing their lunch. Not only you but they will also get a smile on their face.
Even if you praise your partner for their good work and tell them that you are proud of them for something, next time they will put in more effort to make you happy and you’ll feel happy too!
3: Notice Little Things You Possess
Practice some mindfulness and start noticing things around you and what you possess. These things could be the breath you’re taking, the sleep you’re having, the song of the birds you’re hearing, the dinner you’re having with your family, the clean water you can drink, and more.
When you notice these little things that you can be grateful for, your life becomes easy and at the same time, appreciative. Don’t let your happiness be wrapped in bubbles, instead, let it fly through the gratitude for everything you possess.
4: Express Your Gratitude in Little Ways
Another thing that can help you become grateful in life is to express it. Don’t just feel it – express your gratitude as well. Tell people around you how you appreciate them and the things they do for you. How they help you become a better person.
These small ways to express gratitude can deepen your relationships and create a cycle of gratitude in your life.
5: Talk Positively to Yourself
If you’re looking to become more grateful in life, then you need to be kind to yourself and accept your accomplishments and achievements as your own. Be proud of your qualities, achievements, and whatever makes you happy.
Talking down on yourself can hinder your ability to feel grateful, so try to talk more positively to yourself and change your inner narrative.
6: Set Gratitude Reminders to Feel Grateful
In this busy world, it’s easy to feel distracted and forget things, even something as small as a gratitude practice. So use technology well to your advantage. You can set reminders on your phone or use daily gratitude apps to express your gratitude.
Little things can mean more in the long run. Once you catch the habit of feeling grateful and expressing it, you’ll find no trouble in the future to be more grateful.
7: Start a Gratitude Jar to Count Your Blessings
Now, another thing that can help you become more grateful in life can be a grateful jar. What is it? Well, use any jar and place it in a spot where you see it every day, and along with it, keep small pieces of paper and pen with it. Whenever you feel a spot of thankfulness, write it down and put it in the jar.
Over time, you’ll have a collection of grateful and positive notes to look back on when you feel down and sad in life. This practice can also be a good progress-tracking activity to see how far you’ve come in your gratitude practice.
