How Skin Care Routine Improves Mental Health
During the lockdown, we all started maintaining a skincare routine… but sadly everything is again opening now and we are not able to maintain skincare routine again. It takes a lot of commitment to maintain a skincare routine. What if I tell you that maintaining a skincare routine improves mental health as well? You must all be thinking I have gone crazy.
Recently, I read a journal wherein the research has proved that the skincare routine improves mental wellbeing. How stress-relieving this sounds right. The main reason pillaring the study is that when we look good, we feel good, which improves our mental health. In this blog, I have focused on how the skincare routine improves mental health with a small takeaway. So, let’s get started.
How Skincare Routine Improves Mental Wellbeing?
1. Provides mental stability
Little self-care and self-love are not bad, in return self-care provide mental stability. The point is we are all in a transit state right now (due to pandemic); we all don’t know where we are heading to…when will we be able to fight-off coronavirus exactly. All these questions run in our minds constantly which disturbs the mental stability. Little self-care and skincare routine serves to comfort and acts as an anchor to provide stability.
2. Complete removal of worry spiral
While working from home or in office, sometimes intrusive thoughts come into mind which creates stress in the body and mind. Therefore, engagement in any activity like skin toning, cleansing, and moisturizing distracts the mind from intrusive thoughts and bring out the calm in body and mind. The self-care towards skin offers mindfulness.
3. Produces happy hormones which improve mood
Skincare routine makes us feel good and refreshed. The refreshed feeling and calm brain produces happy hormones which in return improves the mood and brings peace into the body. For more mood improvement you can light some candles and play a relaxing song in the player. You can also apply a mask and read your favorite book; it cleanses the mind and skin at the same time.
4. Improves social bonding
We cannot deny the fact that, “when we feel good internally, we smile from the heart.” Such inner happiness improves our social bonding and relationship with partner. Regardless of your dress, when you smile, your skin glows differently. And maintaining a skincare routine and inner happiness are co-related with each other.
Bonding Tip: To improve the bonding and relationship with your partner, try to apply mask together twice a week.
5. A complete set of self-love, kindness, and self-care
As of now, stepping out is dangerous and the world is a stressful place right now. It is also stressful to stay inside, watching TV the whole day, and sleeping without a skincare routine (because we feel so lethargic all day). What about having a little skincare routine and be kind to your skin and peace. Try to spend an extra 5 minutes on treating your skin. Whenever you follow a skin routine say, “I am worth it, and a little bit of self-love is not bad.”
