Feeling lonely in a relationship? Here’s What You Can Do
We often mistake loneliness for being alone. Being alone and being lonely are two completely different things. Many people are single and not lonely and many people are in a relationship yet lonely.
Loneliness in relationships is very common. It’s when one partner fails to make their presence felt in their relationship. It can either be an emotional absence or a physical absence. When you feel alone in a relationship, it can deeply scar your mental well-being making you susceptible to several mental health conditions.
Today, in this blog we are going to talk about two main things about loneliness in a relationship. First signs tell you that someone is feeling lonely in their marriage or relationship and second what one can do to stop feeling alone in their relationship.
Shall we begin?
Signs That You Are Alone In A Relationship
What does being alone in a relationship mean? In my understanding, you become lonely in a relationship when your partner refuses to make any effort to the relationship. Even when they are doing anything wrong, they make you feel alone by not investing completely in the relationship.
You might feel alone in a relationship when you do everything to keep the relationship going and they just act as a mere spectator. They are emotionally and physically absenting in the relationship, especially with those things that you need to do together.
However, to recognize if you or someone you know are feeling alone in a relationship, you need to watch out for these signs;
- Feeling unheard by your partner (they don’t register anything you say)
- You feel like your partner is not as involved in the relationship as you are
- You feel like your partner doesn’t care for you anymore
- There is a weird disconnect between the both of you
- You feel anxious while talking to him about things that bother you
- You both have stopped sharing any news
- Your partner makes you feel like your opinion doesn’t matter
- You have this insecurity about your relationship, and your future looks blurr
- You feel like you have to take all decisions on your own
- Your partner makes plans without you
- You have a sense of emptiness within your relationship
- You no longer enjoy spending time with your partner because it feels like you’re burdening them
