DoFasting App Review: Is The Intermittent Fasting App Truly Worth It?
Fasting has become a recent lifestyle trend that is gaining quite popularity. From celebrities to politicians to your neighbor, all follow some fasting trend. From Keto Diet to Intermittent Fasting, everyone you meet seems to have some opinion on these trends. Their constant and subtle appraisal of fasting trends has prompted you to look at what all the fuss is all about, right?
Well, you might be at the right place, my friend. Today, I’m reviewing one of the trending fasting apps – DoFasting Intermittent Fasting.
Being overweight is becoming a concern and the active lifestyle that we followed some years ago doesn’t hold the same appeal now, does it? Well, to help you work on your weight management, DoFasting is here. Intermittent fasting, with its many health benefits, has managed to capture many hearts but the DoFasting App hasn’t been left behind.
I tried this intermittent fasting app and let’s say I have some mixed feelings. Take a look at how I fared with this DoFasting app, and should you give it a try as well?
An Overview Of The DoFasting App
Product Name: DoFasting – Fasting Tracker
Available On: iOS & Android
Price: Starting from $33 a month (Price might vary depending on your region)
Free Trial Available: No
Payment Options: Visa, Mastercard, and PayPal
DoFasting is a fasting tracker app, designed keeping intermittent fasting in mind. The app is exactly what it sounds like. It acts as a timer that tells you when to start your fasting, when to eat, and how you can track your calorie intake. This looks like your typical fitness tracker but with features that many trending fitness trackers might lack.
Of course, the app also comes with some cons. For example, I couldn’t see anything that helped me see if my fasting was successful, for one. You can log in the calories you consume by either choosing from the meals listed in the app or you can enter the calories manually.
Now, these are just the basic features of the DoFasting App. Let’s take a deeper look into how the app works and whether it is truly worth its cost.
How Does DoFasting Work?
You can download the DoFasting app from Google Play Store and Apple App Store for free but you would need to pay the subscription price before you can use the app or even see how it works. There is, unfortunately, no free trial offered at the moment by the app. There are three subscription plans you can choose from – 1 month, 3 months, and 6 months.
One of the disadvantages I faced was that the subscription plans were not stated beforehand on the app. The plans only appeared after I completed the quiz or assessment, more like, in the beginning.
So let’s get started on the signing process;
To create an account with DoFasting, you need to download the app. Once you open the app, you will be given a series of assessment questions asking the basic details such as your gender, when you feel hungriest in the day; when you eat your meals, do you normally work out, your work habits, how comfortable you are with intermittent fasting, etc.
Once you have completed this questionnaire, you’ll be asked to submit your age, height, current weight, and desired weight. This is done to get an estimate of your weight and eating habits.
Once the app estimates your data, you will be shown a new page that says how much you can lose in the first week and if you hit your desired weight goal within the year. To test it out, I put my current weight at 100 Kg and my desired weight at 70 Kg; age at 27 y/o; and height at 5’8”. In any of the following estimations, I did not get any kind of warning that my desired weight goal could be low or not suitable for me.
Moving on. After receiving your findings, you’ll be asked to make the payment. So select your desired subscription and go for it.
Once you’ve made the purchase, the app will ask you to choose the type of fast you want to follow. For example, 14-hour fast, 16-hour fast, 18-hour fast, and so on. Of course, these are categorized based on their difficulty level. For me, the recommended fast was the 14-hour one, so I went with it. You can pick the one that you find most comfortable for you and your fasting habits.
Once that’s done, the app begins its work – tracking your eating habits. The tracker, mind you, is quite helpful, more so when you choose to receive notifications and reminders. The app also allows you to customize your fasting habits, food preferences, allergies (if you have any), or whether you’d like to track your daily steps, hydration levels, and calories.
One of the best features that I used and came back to again and again was the Meals library and Discover section (where you can find workout videos and articles).
In my initial opinion, the app is pretty straightforward and claims to give what it says. You can keep track of your data and progress, plus check out different ways to eat healthily and follow workout videos depending on your preference.
Now, let’s talk about some of the DoFasting app features.
DoFasting App Features
The features of the DoFasting app that intrigued me the most are;
1. Fasting Tracker
After your initial sign-up, assessment, and your chosen fasting plan, you’ll be directed to add in your fasting time and eating time. You can set a notification to help keep track of your fasting habits though. After each fast, the app will ask you about your mood and how you are feeling. This tracker is one of the most promising features of the app.
Also, based on your initial assessment, the DoFasting app calculates the calories for you and how much you should intake to lose weight and get one step closer to your desired weight goal. This will be automated by the app based on your assessment.
2. Workout And Article Library
The other feature that blew my mind was its workout and article library. You can find this library by clicking on the Discover section that appears at the bottom of the screen. Here you can find workout videos for beginners, quick workout sessions, popular workouts, workouts chosen for you, workouts for abs, shoulders, glutes, legs, and so much more!
You can pick the videos that you are interested in. The best part is that the videos are time-constraint. I enjoy the simple 11-17 minute workout videos.
If you click on the Article section, you’ll find many articles on the topics such as;
- Nutrition
- Body
- Mind
- Fasting
- Habits, and
- Others
Each section has specialized articles you can read to gain knowledge and/or implement the tips listed in your daily life. Quite handy, if you ask me.
3. Meals
Now this was a section I found myself gravitating towards again and again. Meals have always been an important part of my household so to make sure I got enough calories and healthy food, seeking recipes from this section amused me. Here, I could find the most popular meals, low-calorie meals, meals to make in under 10 minutes, and healthier alternatives for fast food or junk food such as pizza, wraps, etc.
I could also choose a category to pick my next healthy meal recipe from! The categories list was quite extensive and helped me pick the right one for any moment. Some of the options listed were;
- Stews
- Pasta
- Salads
- Sweet Snacks
- Savory Snacks
- Pancakes
- Egg Dishes, etc.
If you like a meal, you can add it to the Favorites list, making it easily accessible if you need it. The best part of this feature is that you can add the meal you make from the listed meals to your calorie intake for the day.
For example; I had scrambled eggs with bread and vegetables. I used the recipe to make the meal and then I added the same to my daily calorie by just clicking the button, “Add to daily calories” shown at the bottom of each recipe.
4. Weight, Activity, Nutrition, and Hydration Tracker
You can also start tracking your steps if you allow the app to do so. You can connect your activity with either your Fitbit or Google Fit app. You can also begin tracking your weight and update it as you progress. When it comes to nutrition, the app allows you to track your breakfast calories, lunch calories, dinner calories, and snack calories.
The calorie intake mentioned in the respective section is based on your fasting plan and initial assessment, from what I can gather.
If you’re someone (like me) who forgets to drink water every few hours, then you will find the Hydration tracker quite useful (again, like me). This tracker allows you to keep track of how much water you drank in the day.
Another feature that you may find interesting is the “Log” feature. It’s the big Plus sign at the bottom of the screen. This feature allows you to quickly log in your record;
- Food or Meal
- Custom Meal
- Water Intake
- Weight Changes
Let’s look at the cost.
DoFasting Cost
As I’ve stated before, there are three subscription plans you can choose from;
- 1 Month: The 1-month plan starts at $8.42 per week/ $33.68 per month approximately (billed monthly)
- 3 Months: The 3-month plan starts at $3.64 per week / $43.68 for three months approximately (billed every three months)

Is DoFasting Truly Worth It?
Intermittent Fasting is a trending fasting approach that can help you lose weight. With this fasting approach, you can cycle between fasting and eating periods. Intermittent fasting can help you increase your mental clarity, improve blood pressure levels, reduce the risk of obesity, reduce inflammation, and increase your lifespan. However, this fasting is not suitable for everyone.
If you’re a pregnant lady, a breastfeeding mother, have diabetes, gastro issues, or have a history of eating disorders, then it is strongly recommended that you speak with a doctor or a nutritionist before going through intermittent fasting.
From what I could gather through my user experience of DoFasting: Intermittent fasting app, was that it is a good fasting tracker and can aid you in planning your daily calorie intake and meals. It can also give you some good workout videos to help you keep an active lifestyle, but if you’re looking for an app that does more than this, then DoFasting might not be a good choice.
If you’re a beginner to intermittent fasting then this fasting tracker app can help you, but only if you’re willing to pay for the subscription without seeking cancellation. Compared to other intermittent fasting apps or even fasting trackers, DoFasting is a cheaper and more affordable app.
Unfortunately, as it fails to offer a free trial, I can’t say that I was thoroughly impressed with the app. If I knew beforehand about what I was getting myself into, I would have thought a little bit more, tried other fasting apps, or maybe researched more about IF before subscribing.
From my experience and interaction with the DoFasting app, I would give this app a 3 out of 5. It might lack in some areas, but it makes up for it in other aspects. If you’re inclined to try, download the DoFasting app from Google Play Store and Apple App Store by clicking the links provided below.

At this point, DoFasting is offering a discount on its subscriptions, so if you want to go ahead and try the app, you can do it at a cheaper price. Everything mentioned in this review is based on the author’s experience and research. It is not meant to offend or harm any party(s).
